Choose an emulsifier for an oil dispersion by identifying the carrier oil and active ingredient first. DO 01 and DO 02 have distinct documented starting points: vegetable oil and methyl oleate. A grade recommendation still requires testing in the complete formulation and its dilution water.
Vegetable oil: DO 01
DO 01 agricultural oil emulsifier is described for vegetable-oil-based OD formulations. The published table lists a liquid appearance at 20°C, HLB 6.9 and content of at least 99%. Use the carrier identity, oil specification, active ingredient and target loading to begin the technical review.
Methyl oleate: DO 02
DO 02 methyl oleate emulsifier is described for methyl oleate and OD formulations. Its published table lists a liquid appearance at 20°C, HLB 11.5 and content of at least 99%. These values describe the supplied material; they are not a confirmed emulsifier ratio or proof that every methyl-oleate formulation will be stable.
Keep other emulsifier applications distinct
DO 03 is described for propanil formulations including EC, EW, SE and ME. Other emulsifier grades require a separate technical review. The documented uses do not establish DO 03 as a universal substitute for DO 01 or DO 02 in OD. Ask for a technical review before changing the active ingredient, carrier or dosage form.
Information needed for a trial recommendation
- Identify the carrier oil, its specification, the active ingredient, its loading and the other formulation ingredients.
- Provide manufacturing temperature, dispersion or milling conditions, dilution ratio, water hardness and dilution temperature.
- Request the starting emulsifier level, any co-emulsifier requirement and addition order. Specify whether the dosage is based on the total formulation, oil phase or another agreed basis.
- Agree the test method and acceptance criteria for concentrate stability, particle settling, redispersibility, emulsion separation after dilution, foam and storage performance.
- Record the water composition, dilution procedure, observation times and temperature for each test. Compare samples under the same conditions before deciding between grades.

Read the product-specific Chinese TDS linked on the DO 01 and DO 02 pages or in technical downloads. To request English documentation, a separate SDS and evaluation samples, contact the technical team with the model, carrier oil, active ingredient and target market. A numerical production dosage should be confirmed for the actual formulation.

OD comparison record: carrier and dilution conditions
- Identify the vegetable oil for DO 01 or methyl oleate for DO 02 by specification and batch. Record active ingredient, loading, water/oil content and other emulsifiers.
- Record actual additive mass and denominator, order of addition, temperature, mixing and milling conditions. HLB values alone are not a blending recipe.
- Use the same dilution ratio, water hardness/composition, temperature, mixing procedure and observation times; record separation, sediment, redispersion and foam.
- Define untreated or existing-package controls, repeat samples, sealed containers, storage schedule and acceptance criteria before the comparison.
This is a proposed record template, not a test report or a production recommendation. Agree numerical doses, conditions and acceptance limits before testing. Publish an outcome only with actual results, method, conditions and an approved report reference.
